“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord ! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!” – Habakkuk 3:17-18
Are you currently in a dark season that feels like it’s only raining trouble and misfortune? Does it feel like you want to curl up within and wallow in a bed? Get up! Seasons of despair are not designed to destroy you! Fire does not destroy gold, it reveals it. Look around, it is an opportunity for you as a believer to glorify God.
The passage above just states how the prophet was going through a tumultuous phase. But he didn’t ask “why me?”. Instead, in spite of the turmoil he resolved to praise God. A secret to praising God when you least feel like it is that divine strength comes upon you to rise above despair. You just pass through it with ease! Get up and rejoice, your victory is just around the corner!
Have a fruitful day!
Confession: I will rejoice in the Lord and be joyful in the God of my salvation!
