Shut the Noise Out

“Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.”– 1 Kings 19:11-13 (NKJV)

The Bible makes it quite clear to us, that the voice of God comes to us in a gentle manner, that encourages and urges to live righteously. This is however in contrast to our society that promotes noisy and agitated environments. From the blaring horns in traffic, to our devices either hooked to our ears or speakers blasting with music, news, sports and so on. There are also so many other things that cause anxiety and fill the mind with irrelevant thoughts that distract a person from hearing the right things.

There’s only one thing to do in these moments, shut out the noise! Be intentional about keeping your ears open only to things that renew, refresh and inspire you. The bible says that, “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” We are in a season that requires a deliberate walk with God in order to fulfil destiny. Choose a lifestyle change, welcome peace and serenity and be free from the noise. Have a wonderful day.

Confession: I am led by the Spirit of God and I am sensitive to the presence of God. I have grace to make lifestyle changes that will hinder my relationship with God this year in Jesus name.
