Stay Put

“Yes, I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in me and I in him shall produce a large crop of fruit. For apart from me you can’t do a thing. If anyone separates from me, he is thrown away like a useless branch, withers, and is gathered into a pile with all the others and burned. But if you stay in me and obey my commands, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!” – John 15:5-7 (TLB)

When young children master the art of walking, they have a tendency to wander off and explore new places on their own. However, when the novelty of being an adventurer wears off, the child will search for a familiar face in the unfamiliar territory. If for some reason there’s no recognisable person in sight, be sure that tears will follow. It’s the same between us and God – we tend to wander off from the will and presence of God. Some of us are even like little children who have just learned to walk, and get to a phase in our lives where we think that we don’t need God any longer. However, when some unfortunate circumstances occur, we cry out and blame God for not protecting us.

The truth is, we will all be lost and afraid if we are not properly connected to God, our source. The sustenance He gives us is what we need to grow and excel – so don’t be a drifter, stay put.

Have a wonderful day!

Confession: I am not a drifter because I rely on the sufficiency of God all the days of my life!
