Why Are You Afraid?

“And suddenly a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; but Jesus was sleeping. And the disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us, we are going to die!” He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was [at once] a great and wonderful calm [a perfect peacefulness]” – Matthew 8:24-26 AMP

Sometimes, sudden and violent storms come to erupt and upset our lives. They could be unexpected and negative and can give you legitimate reasons to be afraid. Fear is a perceived sense of helplessness or lack of control. When Jesus and his disciples were out on the sea together and the storms began to rage, the disciples feared for their lives because Jesus was sleeping. Ironic isn’t it?  But you should know that Jesus was in perfect control of the situation.

God, who loves you dearly, is in absolute control of your life. He can calm the storms of your lives and bring you peace just like that! So why are you afraid? The bible says that perfect love casts away fear and God’s love for you is absolutely perfect! Have a love-filled day!

Confession:  There is no storm too big or that rages too loud for God to calm! I walk in His perfect love and that love casts out all my fears.
