THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU
****

You are smart! You’re a Genius! You have the capacity to take on and conquer the world!
Let me guess, you’ve heard these words repeatedly said to you by family and friends in times past. I bet your close acquaintances have also joined the long line of people that think you’re both fantastic and incredible. You’ve heard it so much that it’s starting to become annoying. At work, at play, even at that “owambe” where you quietly volunteered to help out with guest welfare, hoping no one would see you, but somebody did and they said, “kudos” while giving you the thumbs up.

But the sad thing about this scenario is not that you’ve heard the same thing one million times over. Rather, it is that you don’t believe these amazing things being said about you. For some reason, you don’t think you’re great or any of that ‘jazz’. Maybe a little over average but definitely not extraordinary. I mean, how can you even be special, right? You’re just you and that’s it – no extra skill or superpower. Your parents were not dignitaries and your family name is revered only as far as the tiny community you hail from. So how can you be this person they use so many flowery words to describe, right?
And so you carry this notion about yourself everywhere you go. You slowly start getting used to not being special and you cower every time the opportunity presents itself for you to shine. Why? Because you’re not sure how you would sound in the midst of all the people looking at you, and God forbid that you say something dumb; then everyone would know for sure, what they had suspected all along. You are nothing.

So you keep quiet and take the backseat. “It’s easier this way,” you tell yourself. You know you’ve become self-absorbed but that’s not what you call it – you’re only melancholic. Thank God, and English language, for personality types and fancy names. But how long would you tell yourself this lie? We both know nobody else said it you but you. How did you even get here in the first place? Why choose to remain mediocre when you can break free from this tiresome cycle of barely scratching the surface of greatness?

The answer is simple; it lies in one word called “TRUTH”.

Tell yourself the truth. You really are great. You are a light in this dark world. You were put here for a very important reason by an intentional Father who fashioned you specially to do what only you could do. Own it, your genius. Own it and share it with the world. What fun is there in hiding in the dark anyway, when after a while you start to go blind. Remove the dark drapes that cast a gloom over you. Let a breath of fresh air in – exhale!

You are not from here. Earthly standards do not define you. Although you currently reside and make a living here on earth, you ultimately belong somewhere else, and that is in heaven where the Father resides, along with all the saints. This earth is only temporary – a market place if you may. We are all here to live life, worship the Father, and someday return home, having left an undeniable footprint in the sands of time. So quit worrying what anyone says about you, their interpretation of you is only as a result of their own ‘limited’ sight.

You are a place where God’s spirit lives and you are greatly loved by Him. Your scars do not matter, they never did. You are a beautiful work of art just the way you are. You are created in God’s likeness. You are greatly loved. This part you cannot say enough. You have to say it to yourself everyday and when it seems like you might forget, say it all over again. No, you are not just loved – You are greatly loved.

You belong to a new family. This is who you are and it cannot be over emphasized. You may carry a unique surname that has been passed down through your family lineage, or you may have one that came by law, but your true family is in heaven. You are a born again child of God.

You might not notice it but everywhere you go, there’s an entity standing right there with you. How tall are you? Between 5 and 6 feet? Now imagine a being about three times that in height and size. That’s how big this entity is walking beside you, protecting and watching over you. He is your guardian angel and he is totally in your service. That’s the kind of VIP you are.
Imagine yourself as two different people sometimes. Take time to listen to the words of affirmation that you have for yourself. Appreciate them, smile at them, claim them. The same way you drool and blush when a 2019 Range Rover drives past you in traffic, do the same when you see the vision of yourself in your mind’s eye. Avail yourself the opportunity to stand back and watch the traffic of your thoughts pass by. Enjoy the reality of your face splashed on every vehicle alongside such captions as, ‘Genius,’ ‘Maverick,’ ‘Leader,’ ‘Influencer,’ ‘Child of God’ and more.

You’ve heard the saying, that everything happens first in the spiritual before it manifests in the physical. Depending on how real it has become in your mind, certain things might not start to happen in reality. So cloth that idea of greatness in your mind with more and more positive thoughts. Declare greatness over yourself; say it everywhere, every time, until you believe it and start to see evidence of it in your day to day life – then repeat the cycle over and over again.
You are God’s chosen and special one my friend; you’re a royal being. God has brought you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Now you must share your genius with the rest of the world.
