“And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’ -I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.” – Luke 11:5-8
When you are desperate for God to change the situation in your life, do you seek Him about it casually or do you tarry till you start to see a difference? One major characteristic of effective prayer is persistence. To be persistent is to continue in an opinion or course of action, in spite of difficulty or opposition. But too many Christians today display a ‘what will be, will be’ attitude, thinking that it is alright to just go along with whatever happens in life. Don’t be like a helpless straw floating in the wind and throw in the towel.
Persistence through prayer produces desired results. You can never be helpless and powerless when you are in constant communication with God. Today, make requests of God believing that you have received it. Remain persistent till you see the manifestation of that request in your life.
