‘The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.’ – Proverbs 11 v 24-25 (MSG) To be generous, means to give intentionally, with or without expectation of reward. You should be generous with your material resources, time, praise, emotional support, skill, physical effort, and so on. Generosity endears you to people and opens doors to unending favours for you. It also a form of sowing seeds that others can subsequently benefit from because the things you do will live beyond you. The woman with the alabaster box, performed an act of generosity and did not expect to be paid for it, but her story is still being told years after her act of love. You too can do something in 30 minutes that will be remembered for the next 300 years. Acts of kindness and generosity are part and parcel of leaving a legacy. Today, do something good for someone who may not be able to repay you but will live after you. Confession: I am a river of blessing to the world and my life reflects the generous nature of our Lord Jesus. |
