I’m sure you’ve had some of these questions run through your mind –
Question: “Is God aware of your troubles?
Answer: Maybe he’s aware.
Question: As a devoted Christian, does God get angry when I worry about my life especially in this pandemic season?
Answer: “God understands when you doubt as life can be overwhelming. Yet –he has expectations of you when pangs of unbelief and doubt flood your heart. Expectations of you to run to him, and dwell in his presence where you can experience peace.
I imagine this sort of conversation between God and one of his children.
You: Hello God, Please I need you.
God: (settles to listen to you and replies)
You: Yes, I thank you for all that you have been doing. I don’t know if it’s the sin I committed in my past that have caught up to me and caused you to turn your face from me (Please read Psalm 103:8 -10)
God: (Attempts to respond but is interrupted)
You: Not only that, I’ve also had this migraine that I have been begging you to heal me of, but you haven’t answered. Father please heal me, prosper me, provide for me. Thank you for answering. Goodbye.
I imagine that we sometimes have conversations like the above with the ONE who knows our inner thoughts, desires and struggles. How do you converse with your earthly best friend when he/she complains to you about their struggles/pain? Do they pour out their heart to you and just up and leave without waiting for a reply?
There’s your answer.
There are probably worrying thoughts that have been rummaging through your mind lately even as you read this. Please read the following scripture John 14:1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me”.
Please declare – I silence every voice/whisper of worry over my mind in Jesus Name.
What if I told you that there’s ONE who deeply cares for you? Remember 1 Peter 5:7(NKJV) “Casting all your cares upon him, for he cares for you”. Be reminded that he (God) actually wants those situations to encourage you to trust in him and his promises.
Let us examine some practical steps to take when you find yourself drifting into despair or doubt:
- Seek God – God loves to listen to you. He is always ready to hear about your worries, good moments and struggles. Seeking God means that you dialogue with him; speak to him and allow him to speak back to you. (1Chronicles 16:11 – Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually) Seek his presence day and night! Also check out – Jeremiah 29:13 , Psalm 9:10
- Give Thanks – A popular saying goes “If you think, you will thank”. It is easy to see how things aren’t turning out well when you forget about God’s past and present faithfulness. I encourage you to imbibe the spirit of thanksgiving and always approach life with a heart of thanks. How about taking a pause right now to say “I thank you faithful God”?
- Renew Your Mind – Romans 12 :2 (NIV) says “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will”. The renewal of your mind should be done on a daily basis, not when things are looking bleak.
Mimicking the pattern of the world consists of unbelief, ungodly tough patterns, negative confessions, immorality; among many others that shouldn’t dwell in you. These are not only external, they stem from what you feed your heart. When you surrender your life to Jesus Christ, he transforms all that you were formerly made up of. You find yourself conforming to acting according to the spirit of God and not to the flesh. This is possible through the Holy spirit, through faith in Jesus Christ. Your entire life should be an act of worship unto our heavenly father because God is waiting to reconnect with you today, right now.
Please declare: Heavenly Father, thank you for being with me through the good and bad times, in all seasons. Please forgive me for not trusting you enough when things got awry. I ask for strength to see you always, in good and bad times. In Jesus Name, Amen
